showcasing the beautiful Saharan Dust Sunset here in Panama City Beach, Florida
If you haven't noticed the hazy sunsets lately, let me explain: The Saharan Dust comes off the coast of Africa during the summer months, usually July and August. It comes by the wind over the Atlantic and is quite helpful and keeping tropical storms at bay! A great thing for our beaches and locals and tourists! It does this by keeping our moist environment a bit drier almost like a silica packet you get in your packages from the store. You may notice a little bit of "dirty" rain as well. It's just dust caught in the rain and is not harmful... If you have asthma please note the air quality is not as good as it usually is. This information was gathered from several sources including Mr. Carlock an Arkansas visitor I had the privilege of meeting, as well as USA TODAY!
In the meantime, enjoy the sunset and your beach vacation!!!!
